What Are The New Tile Trends for 2023?
The international tile fair, Cersaie, took place in Bologna, Italy in September 2022. The team from Premier Porcelain took the opportunity to attend and take a look at the latest product developments & trends that will shortly be arriving from leading manufacturers in 2023.
From bold colours to vibrant floral designs & detailed marble effects all the way through to delicate and subtle tones such as off-white and pearls. Cersaie had it all this year. Here are some of our highlights:
Shape & Structure – Who says tiles have to be boring? From internal to external, the use of shape was very prominent and with advanced manufacturing technology providing stunning detail, these products certainly add a talking point over dinner or at that family BBQ! As we found out when it comes to porcelain flooring it’s definitely hip not to be square!

Classical Styling – Terrazzo is making a comeback and sure to be a favourite in 2023. The Italian tile fair certainly reinforced that resurgence with multiple new product ranges and styles on offer to add a splash of continental colour into your internal or external space.

Cotto – This traditional colour palette consisting of numerous shades certainly made a comeback at the recent trend fair. Combining traditional rustic finishes with contemporary shapes and bringing the traditional back to life. The warmth of Cotto effect tiles was evident and judging by the level of interest around the product offers this style will be another hit for 2023.

Slates & Stones & Marbles – Slate, stone & marble is not a new trend as it’s simply everywhere! But when you take a closer look at new product development you can see subtle design improvements and detailed tones in the finishes. It’s then you begin to pick out a theme and this year it’s all about the detail. Advances in manufacturing of porcelain tiles mean it is now almost indistinguishable from natural stone. The benefits porcelain has over stone are many, making porcelain the best material for any decorative project. Take a look at some of our great offers on similar products here.

Big & Bold – XXL or Kingsize porcelain paving slabs and cladding were prominent from 1200×600 & 1000×1000 to 1200x1200mm 20mm porcelain paving. The new product investment in XXL porcelain pavers is sure to attract the discerning garden designer who wants to make a statement. The XXL cladding slabs are perfect as an alternative to smaller decorative products and provide a seamless finish to any internal or external space.

Small & Beautiful – Not everything has to be XXL. Sometimes the small can be very beautiful and Cersaie offered us a glimpse that big is not always better! From striking geometric shapes and metallic colours to the more subtle and calming tones, small format is alive and kicking and with many new porcelain small format ranges on offer now is the perfect time to plan that unique internal or external space.
